Rational Functions I Have - Who Has Activity

This is an activity that gets your students up and moving during class. I designed this as a review for my students after we covered holes and horizontal/vertical asymptotes. Two different sets of cards are passed out to students (one with functions the other with equations of asymptotes) and they must work together to find their partner. 3 card sets are included and the game can be played multiple ways. This is a wonderful review of homework, for a test, or end of the year testing. Card sets:

Spaghetti Triangle Inequality Theorem

This is a self discovery group activity. Students use spaghetti noodles, of different lengths, to create triangles. They are then asked to generate their own theorem based on the activity. The activity then covers the topics of "the largest angle is opposite the longest side". Pratice problems are also provided. My students love this activity and "teaching" themselves the lesson. A student example is provided.

This foldable is designed to go in an interactive notebook or as a stand alone study aid. Topics covered are positive, negative, undefined and zero slope. A solid line indicates a fold and a dashed line is to be cut. My students love when I print these on colored paper. An example is on the last page.

This is a foldable covering the types of angles formed for two parallel lines and a transversal. Angles covered are Same-Side Interior, Alternate Interior, and Corresponding. This foldable is designed as a study guide for students to complete. There are spaces for students to write the relationships of each and write two examples for them to study by. Pages 2 and 3 are to be printed front and back. Dotted lines need to be cut and solid lines indicate a fold. My students love these, and many tim

This file has everything you need for an Interacitve Notebook page for your students on Rotations...well everything put an old fashioned paper faster. Graph paper and spinner are provided in the document, they line up with points on the coordinate grid. Students spin the manipulative to different quadrants to see rotations about the origin. They also use the manipulative to discover the formulas for 90, 180, 270, and 360 degree rotations. Pictures of the manipulative are in the preview files.

This foldable helps students grasp the Segment addition postulate. Pages 2 and 3 need to be copies front to back. Solid lines indicate a fold and dashed lines indicate a cut. Foldables are a creative way to introduce a new task or review prior knowledge. My students keeps their foldable out while working on this topic as a guide. They also make great study guides for state or chapter test. For more foldables and games, visit my store! http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Mferg7

My students are not very good at studying their notes. However, if I can turn it into some kind of cool graphic organizer, they can't seem to put it down. This file is a review of a unit on Quadrilaterals. Students make the organizer seeing how they are related, then appropriately match the proprieties and paste on the inside of the panels. The graphic organizer is a great tool for review and for those end of the year state tests. Photo answer key attached. Don't forget to check out my sto

Experience

I have taught in rural county in North Carolina for the past eight years.

Teaching style

I used to be big on lecture then practice. Our state recently adopted the Common Core Curriculum and that has forced me out of my comfort zone, it an excellent way. I now love to do discovery based activities with my students and they especially love "arts and crafts" days in my class.
