This is a self discovery group activity. Students use spaghetti noodles, of different lengths, to create triangles. They are then asked to generate their own theorem based on the activity. The activity then covers the topics of "the largest angle is opposite the longest side". Pratice problems are also provided. My students love this activity and "teaching" themselves the lesson. A student example is provided.

This is a patty paper activity that guides students to the formula for the midsegment of a triangle. This is a step by step worksheet. Scaffolding questions are built within the steps. The activity is designed for students to work in groups but can easily be adapted for individual work. Materials needed: patty paper (one per student), protractor or Anglegs.
