Spaghetti Triangle Inequality Theorem

Created by

This is a self discovery group activity. Students use spaghetti noodles, of different lengths, to create triangles. They are then asked to generate their own theorem based on the activity. The activity then covers the topics of "the largest angle is opposite the longest side". Pratice problems are also provided. My students love this activity and "teaching" themselves the lesson. A student example is provided.

Are you teaching exponential functions? Do your students have a hard time remembering what the variables mean? Mine do! I created this foldable to be part my Interactive Student Notebooks to introduce my students to exponential functions and to reference as they do their work. It also makes a great study tool for quizzes and tests. Visit my TpT store to find more foldables and activities http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Mferg7

This is a foldable covering the different ways slope can be presented. I made this foldable for my geometry classes but it can easily be used for algebra topics as well. This foldable is designed as a study guide for students to complete. Pages 2 and 3 are to be printed front and back. Dotted lines need to be cut and solid lines indicate a fold. My students love these, and many times request theme but I don't have time to make them from scratch in class. This is a template that saves valuable

This is a patty paper activity that guides students to the formula for the midsegment of a triangle. This is a step by step worksheet. Scaffolding questions are built within the steps. The activity is designed for students to work in groups but can easily be adapted for individual work. Materials needed: patty paper (one per student), protractor or Anglegs.

Experience

I have taught in rural county in North Carolina for the past eight years.

Teaching style

I used to be big on lecture then practice. Our state recently adopted the Common Core Curriculum and that has forced me out of my comfort zone, it an excellent way. I now love to do discovery based activities with my students and they especially love "arts and crafts" days in my class.
