The transition from the the end of the summer into the new school year is celebrated by using flip flops as the object of our first drawing assignment. The element of color is used to incorporate emphasis as a design principle.
This lesson has 12 color and 12 black and white flip flop compositions which can be used in place of taking your own photographs. You can also use the black and white prints as handouts which the students can color with markers or colored pencils.
Let's explore the magical color fields of Mark Rothko! This Middle Child eBook shows step-by-step instructions on how to create fields of beautiful colors using an engaging printing process. Students are encouraged to choose their favorite colors and experiment with how colors interact with each another.
