Pokemon Go! Fun Simulation Game/Activity - editable for any grade or subject
Engage your students with a classroom/school version of Pokemon Go, Students will search for Pokemon around the school and fill up their Pokedex as they do - just like the real game!
I designed this for use in my middle school math classroom to use as an extra credit opportunity. I wanted to extend the activity throughout the entire year so that Pokemon only appear one at a time for two weeks, then they are gone. Students find a Pokemon with a posted problem, solve it and return the work to me

Based on those matching sides squares, this is a fun activity to have students practice their knowledge of converting numbers from scientific notation form to standard form (and vice-versa). This skill is essential in the task of ordering and comparing rational and irrational numbers.

This product serves to help students identify if a number is either rational or irrational. The focus is on "tricky" numbers - perfect squares vs. square roots; terminating vs. non-terminating decimals; and repeating vs. growing patterns. Teaching style
I focus on forming meaningful relationships with my students to gain their trust and understand how I can teach them best. So many students come to middle school with the notion that they "can't do math" and I aim to show them that learning math is fun and every student is good at something when it comes to pre-algebra skills. I keep students actively engaged in a variety of learning and discovery activities and try to make each class different from the previous day. I try to incorporate technology as much as possible - middle schoolers love it! Most recently, I have focused on incorporating stations into my classes to provide for specific remediation and enrichment. I am always looking for new teaching strategies and activities for today's ever-changing students.
