Students can use this inequality reference sheet when writing inequalities from word problems, graphing inequalities, and identifying solutions to inequalities. Teachers can use it as guided notes or a handout for students to use as they work on problems.

Students work in groups to brainstorm opposite ideas related to positive and negative values. I find that many 6th graders need scaffolding on real life concepts to understand positive and negative numbers and opposites before they work on word problems involving integers. There are blank spaces for students to add new words that they come across when they are working on real life problems related to positive and negative numbers.

Students use this sheet when they write expressions from words. When we go over all of the key words and symbols, I have them highlight any words that they. did not know. Students use this until they memorize the words that correlate to each operation.
