I have taught 6,7, and 8th grade Math and Science at a Montessori style Catholic School in Toledo, Ohio. I am currently employed at a Middle School in Mentor, Ohio teaching 6,7,and 8th grade.
The students will use this activity to learn about the different layers of the Earth. The lab includes a pre-assessment or a place to list the properties of the Earth's Layers. It then goes into the lab procedures using a Milky Way. Students will cut into a milky way to see how the layers compare to those of Earth. The lab then asks questions about each layer and why it relates to the Earth layers. At the end of the lab there is a post assessment or and 'exit slip' to assess what the student

Teaching style
I love to use inquiry based activities in my classes. I think it is important for students to have hands on activities that they can relate the content to. I feel that it is very important to allow students to have the opportunity to make connections to the real world when they are learning in the classroom.

I graduated from Mentor High School in 2009. I then attended Bowling Green State University to pursue my undergraduate degree in Middle Childhood Education. I specialized in Math, Science, and Reading grades 4-9. I have had experience in private as well as public schools with grades 6-8.
