This grading scale is intended for use in non-honors classes, as it seeks to aid students who at times struggle to learn new concepts. I have spent two years tweaking this scale to where I feel comfortable with it, and after using it for the last year and a half, I feel that the grades my students earn reflect their effort given and understanding of the material present on the test. Experience

This is my 3rd year of teaching high school mathematics in Mississippi. I currently teach at Lafayette High School in Oxford, MS, but I previously taught at Petal High School in Petal, MS. I have had the privilege of teaching primarily Geometry and Algebra 2, but I also have experience in remedial Foundations of Algebra and SREB Mathematics.

Teaching style

I am a big believer in getting as much practice as possible in the classroom (that's the only way you get better at anything!) My school currently operates on a 4-block semester schedule, so my daily lessons are comprised of 20-40 minutes of lecture, 30 minutes of an in-class review activity, and 10-20 minutes of independent work on worksheets that can be finished up for homework. In the past, I had stuck to the barebones of notes & worksheets only, but the review activities have helped some of my lower students become more invested and engaged in class and their math grade.
