I am a big believer in getting as much practice as possible in the classroom (that's the only way you get better at anything!) My school currently operates on a 4-block semester schedule, so my daily lessons are comprised of 20-40 minutes of lecture, 30 minutes of an in-class review activity, and 10-20 minutes of independent work on worksheets that can be finished up for homework.
In the past, I had stuck to the barebones of notes & worksheets only, but the review activities have helped some of my lower students become more invested and engaged in class and their math grade.
