I started my career as an elementary art teacher six years ago. Since then I have taught second grade, first grade and kindergarten. This year I will be returning to first grade after spending the last three years in kindergarten.
This is a fun math game for students to practice the ability to know ten more, ten less, one more and one less for numbers through 100. Players flip over two cards placing them on the place value mat. They then must state the number and ten more, ten less, one more, and one less than the number created and record it on their sheet. The player with the most points at the end wins. My students asked to play this game all the time last year!
This is a mathematical take on writing/reading the room appropriate for first grade and review for second grade. This packet includes cards for doubles and doubles plus one addition problems with addends through ten for you to post around the school or classroom. *higher level fraction memory game (I used for enrichment during guided math)
This file includes two sets of place value (o through 99) I have, who has. Each set has 20 cards. I use these cards when we have a couple extra minutes in between lessons. My students love to race to see how fast they can wrap all the way around. Years that I have had less than 20 students, I give certain students multiple cards. If you have more than 20 students, you can assign students to be "fact checkers" to make sure the correct person is going next.
This pack is everything you need for your classroom calendar. It includes 31 3x3 inch number cards, days of the week headers, and months of the year headers.
A fun and exciting way for students to review time to the hour and to the half hour. Tape up the clocks around the classroom and have the students go on a clock hunt. They should record the digital form of the time on the worksheet included! My first graders loved this, it would also be great review for second graders!
This math game is perfect for math centers and is common core aligned for kindergarten and first grade. Students will have a blast choosing gumballs and finding their home in the correct gumball machine. This file also includes a black line worksheet to use for checking student work.
CCSS: K.OA.A.2, 1.OA.C.6
I like to change my students desk tags with the seasons. Thanks to Ashley Hughes' adorable graphics, I was able to make these adorable Valentine's Day tags with her clip art. They come with a 0-20 numberline on the bottom to help with addition and subtraction to 20.
This is a center game that addresses CCSS 1.OA.6 &1.OA.3. Students will find three stars that are the same color and then manipulate them to make the correct number sentences that belong to that particular fact family. There are two versions of the game. Version A is fact families within 10 and version B is fact families within 20.
