This is a perfect fall experiment to use when introducing the scientific method. I first introduce the steps of the scientific method (question, hypothesis, experiment, observations, and conclusions) and explain each part. On the first page the students can draw a picture to help them remember what that step means. When done, they can cut out the pieces and try to put it in order with a neighbor.
