I have 29+ years of experience teaching HS English, primarily Composition, AP Language and Composition, Creative Writing and Argument courses. I hold a Writing Specialist and Mindful Educator Certifications. I'm a Yoga Teacher with SEL certifications from Breathe for Change. As a side gig, I also teach at the post-secondary level, English and various Education classes for pre-service English teachers and Content Literacy for all pre-service subjects. I have facilitated workshops on Writing Pedagogy, mindfulness in the classroom, and contemplative pedagogy. My academic research agenda also includes Embodied Learning, Mindfulness, and Writing Pedagogy.

Teaching style

Student and teacher-centric approaches in the classroom to foster student independence and critical thinking while enriching the classroom lives of teachers by engaging a variety of methodologies that place the bulk of the workload on the student. Writing instruction does not have to be scary, exhausting, or confusing and it is my goal to provide teachers with materials and know-how to cut down the trepidation of writing instruction. Additionally, I believe in accessible, realistic mindful practice and contemplative pedagogy and encourage students and teachers to engage thoughtful reflection throughout the learning process.
