About the store

Experience

I have been teaching 1st grade, 2nd grade and ESL for the past 7 years in public school. Just this past school year I decided to take a leap of faith. I left the public school system and now teach at own my own school where I run a homeschool program for grades PreK through 6th grade as well as elementary after-school tutoring.

Teaching style

I believe that my "style" of teaching must be very flexible and change according to the various needs of my students. With that said, I believe that all students in elementary grades benefit from movement and hands-on learning. My lessons include singing, moving and touching and manipulating things as much as possible.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Although I do not have any fancy awards or honors, I do feel that I am honored and rewarded each day I see a smile on a student's face when they learn and understand something new that I taught them!

My own education history

After high school I attended college and 4 years later with a bachelor's in fashion merchandising and business. I did not realize my passion for teaching until my first son was born and I had already recieved my 1st bachelor's degree. Upon realizing that I had a need to teach, I jumped right back into college and 2 years later recieved another bachelor's in elementary education. Since then I have also returned to college for my ESL certification as well as a certification in early childhood.

Additional biographical information

I am a wife and mother of two handsome boys ages 6 and 9. I love working with children and have a passion for knowledge. Through teaching we as teachers also learn many things along the way. My motto is Hand in Hand, We all Learn.
