This is a project that can be used with any book the student chooses to read. The file contains the directions for the diary entry from the point of view of a character in the story, a rubric to grade, and an example diary entry to show students the quality of work expected. I really got some great projects from students with this assignment!

I created this document for the K-4 teachers in my district because the Common Core is not only new but written at a level that doesn't translate well for elementary teachers. This is a list of the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice written for K-4 teachers! It also contains a list of guiding questions for each of these standards adapted from various math series'. This list can be kept with your math lesson plan book so you know all the practice standards are being taken care of!

This packet contains roles and responsibilities for a literature group. Roles include: discussion director, literary luminary, connector, character captain, artful artist, and vocabulary enricher. This can be used to introduce or review both of these concepts with a group of staff, parents, school board, etc. at professional development. This is a hands-on math activity to help students practice mean, median, and mode. Students will complete in three events and measure their results as a group to find the mean, median and mode. They will graph the data and look for outliers. Great activity to get kids up and moving as they have fun learning math!!

This is a math activity requiring students to use M&M's to create population graphs and charts. They have to interpret the data they find to draw conclusions about the "study". My kids LOVED this activity because it was hands-on and they got a tasty treat at the end after their work was checked!

This project lets children review geometric vocab and shapes such as types of angles, all shapes, types of triangles, parallel lines, etc. as they build a house for a little piggy who lost his! Students create a 2D or 3D model of a home with certain requirements on what needs to be in the design. The finished products that students brought in were amazing!!

This list can be used to show staff the amount of time they need to spend on technology or would be a great resource for a computer/technology/business teacher to incorporate common core standards into his or her lesson plans.

This file contains two separate tests on literary tools (personification, onomatopoeia, alliteration) with sample sentences for students to choose. One test can be used as a pretest and the other a post-test.

This book report puts students in the role as a psychic as they look into their crystal ball to predict what they think a story will be about as they pre-read. A great way to get kids interested in a story in a fun way!
