Each of the ten units in the Benchmark Literacy curriculum includes a genre study. This resources includes a poster and bookmarks (both with reference book cover pictures) and a short quiz for each of the ten units.
I made this to help my students learn about the different genres. I feel that the bookmarks will help them focus on the key ideas of each genre. Then at the end of the week, my students will take the short quiz that matches the bookmark slips. Answer keys are included.

I created these coupons to make my life easier and to give my students a wide variety of rewards to earn.
At my school, we utilize a site called Learning Earnings. As students do something positive, we reward them with digital “money” that they can use to “buy” prizes that we (teachers) post on the site. Some of the items are tangible and immediate. For example, they buy a pencil or a lanyard, and they get it the following week from our PBIS leader. However, there are many ideas of rewards tha
Need a creative and fun way to teach and assess your students on text features? This activity asks your students to be super sleuths and go on an investigation to discover different types of non-fiction text features.

This is a performance based task/project using reading concepts and skills. Students will read a grade appropriate novel and will complete three assignments using the tic tac toe menu board. This could be used as an extension of GATE resource students; however, all of my fourth grade students completed it.
Grasping the base ten number system is one of the hardest concepts for some children. These activities or games can be modified and used in many different ways from whole group to small group and individually. The activities allow for practice and review, but also remediation and extension.
When I first created this idea, I really wanted to review the concept of making numbers and the order and location of each number on a place value chart. I truly had no idea how I would be reaching other sta
This resource covers one specific 3rd grade standard, and that is how to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 and 100.
There are specific activities for rounding to nearest 10 and then similar activities for rounding to the nearest 100. There is a culminating practice sheet at the end that could be used as a quiz grade or for homework.
This could be a great resource for reteaching this concept to any student who does not understand rounding or who needs more practice with this concept. The a
Use this resource to get your students thinking!
Ask students to read a chapter in the novel, Bud, Not Buddy and then reflect by answering the journal topic in their writing journals.
This resource provides 19 journal topics to accompany the 19 chapters in the book. This can be used with a whole class, small reading group, or independently by individual students.
Look in my store for the Anticipation Lesson document for use prior to beginning the novel.
This is a one day lesson to be used prior to introducing the novel, Bud, Not Buddy.
Use this questionnaire the first day before you give the novel to the group or class. Ask students to answer the questions independently and honestly. For each question, they will explain their answers. Students will discuss in small groups, and then the teacher will lead a discussion of student answers and thoughts. Finally, the teacher will introduce the book and the main character, Bud.

This is a resource to use for extra practice, independent work time, math centers, homework, or a quiz. It reviews the fourth grade standard of rounding a multi-digit whole number to any place.
This could also be used as remediation and review.
This is a set of three All About Me posters for students to use during the first week of school. One is a letter sized page, one is a pennant design, and the third is a bunting style design.
It is possible to copy these on card stock and string them together to create a neat design for your bulletin board or wall space.
Eight Slides of BOGGLE on a 3 by 3 grid. Students try to make as many words going vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Words can be made by connecting letters left, right, up, or down. Words must be at least 3 letters long. Students make the words and receive points for each words. Longer words score more points. Game last for 1 minute. Great way to incorporate correct spelling and word building into the Word Study Block of the Literacy Plan.

Interactive Flipchart for Promethean Board ~ This flipchart has three pages. The first page is a word splash where students have to identify the words that mean the same as cemetery. The second page students have to brainstorm other words for smart. The third page is a model of how the tombstones for your synonyms will look. Teachers will need to make index cards of basic words she/he will want her/his students to find synonyms for...such as good, bad, small, large, pretty, ugly....and so on...s
Use these to assess your class as a whole. Just laminate them and attach them to jumbo craft sticks or use without the craft sticks. These work great in whole group and small group as a way to quickly assess your students' knowledge of the content.
I have also used them in classroom games where I divided the class and had them decide on an answer as a team. This is perfect for having the kids work cooperatively.
If you would like other words or symbols added, just let me know. I can add them
