Why should math classes have all the picture-making fun?
Students color words based on their parts of speech. A picture slowly reveals itself.
Two versions (a videogame character and a superhero) are included.
Enjoy!
Pairs of students face off in this classic game of deduction, but instead of guessing faces, they must guess shapes!
The game gives students practice in identifying properties of various polygons, including:
- Regular Polygons
- Types of Quadrilaterals
- Right Angles
- Sets of Parallel Sides
- and more!
Included in this PDF file are:
- an information sheet for students to review the properties of the shapes included in the game (or to use as a cheat sheet during the game).

This printable handout walks students through the story "After 20 Years" by O. Henry and gets them to think about the theme of friendship.
Students begin by defining what they believe a "true friend" is. After reading the first half of the story, they create a social network profile for the main character.
After then reading the last half of the story, they grapple with questions about the real meaning of true friendship.
The printable includes the questions and guide *as well as the story it
Students in groups of 3 or 4 each draw four cards and place them on their Card Mat. After multiplying the created fractions on a scratch piece of paper, they write their answers in the appropriate space. If their answer is correct, they score points. The game was surprisingly engaging and competitive even for my reluctant learners. Enjoy!
This is a fun card game that gets students to interact with improper and mixed fractions. Student draw cards to set up an improper fraction, and then must convert it to a mixed fraction. The spaces on the Card Mat are slightly larger than standard playing card sizes, and so should fit any playing deck you have for the students to use. Enjoy!

ADAPTATION
One challenge with teaching Verne's classic is the language of the 1870s. I have written an adaptation unlike anything else available.
It is not an abridged version with just 10 or 20 chapters. It is an adapted version with the full 37 chapters and the true spi
Here is a graphic organizer of quadrilaterals, to help students with classifying rectangles, trapezoids, squares, etc. It helps students to see how the shapes are related. Enjoy!
Students can use this Graphic Organizer to demonstrate understanding of a crime story. I made this form with Alicia Zadrozny's "When the Truth Rings Out" in mind. The story can be downloaded from her website at: http://www.aliciazadrozny.com/uploads/1/0/0/9/10094377/whenthetruthringsout1.pdf I imagine the form could be easy to use for other crime or mystery short stories as well. Note: I explained what means, motive, and opportunity meant and wrote explanations and examples on the board to help
A simple one-page document to motivate students to think about a character in more complex ways. How does the character relate to others? How does the character behave?
