After browsing through what teachers were looking for I saw that there were people in need of short 5-10 minute activities they could use to get their students focused and thinking about their content area without diving right into the class work for the day. I've put together 15 different activities that will get your students settled down, focused, and developing their critical thinking skills in fun and interactive ways. This first packet of ice-breakers gives you 5 icebreakers that involve

I've used this test in both Biology and Environmental studies classes; I design all my lessons, tests, and quizzes in a manner that allows them to be multi-functional. I also follow common core standards so that the educational tools I create can be utilized by as many people as possible. It meets the Earth Science VA state standard ES. 6 and can be used effectively in virtually every state to meet their specific Earth Science standards in some way shape or form. The text from which I develo

I have been doing research into common core since it appears to be the wave of the future in education. Everyone seems to want and/or need common core material, however, it's not that easy to find templates out there. Since the common core state standards have not been 100% finalized or put into effect yet this template may be subject to change. This is the best template I could find out there. I'm putting it up for free to try and help everyone out. Hope this helps!!

One helpful way for teachers to start strong with their classroom management and get a read on a new class is through the pre-test. By giving out a test on the first day it tells your students that you mean business and also helps calm down a classroom full of students who haven't seen each other regularly for the last 3 months. The pre-test will also give you insight into where your students strengths and weaknesses lie in test taking, as well as show you what kind of knowledge base your stud

Here's the Math standards for the up and coming Common Core take over. The development of "common core" is still a work in progress so this may be subject to some final changes but the overall conceptual framework shouldn't change. Just wanted to post some information up to make it easier for teachers looking for information on common core. Here's the website http://www.corestandards.org/the-standards Hope this helps!

Teaching style

I apply Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligence's to my teaching style and try not to teach my students but create an environment in which they can learn. I am familiar with adhering to SOL's and the public school system and try to find ways to incorporate their standards into a fun and engaging directed classroom learning experience.

Additional biographical information

I used to want to be famous when I was little. Stardom was the first thing I can remember thinking of as a status I wanted to attain. I thought... I could be an actor. I probably could have been an actor too... adolescence had other plans for me... Why would I want to pretend to be the hero, or pretend to save the day when I could go out and be that hero who saves the day? Actors are just immortalizing a role; they aren't ever actually living that life. I realized I didn't want fame; I wanted to make a difference. It only took 25 years for me to realize that the most powerful thing you can be a part of is the education of today's future. Now I'm finally in a position where I have the credentials to teach... I'm excited to be here!
