I have been a math teacher for over 12 years. I have taught 7 years at the high school level and 5 at the middle school level. Although I loved teaching high school, I wanted to pursue a career in Educational Administration. With that goal in mind I pursued and attained my current position as Mathematics Department Head at Hudson Memorial Middle School where I teach 7th and 8th graders.
7th Grade Common Core Math - Unit Rates with Complex Fractions
This worksheet includes ten unit rate word problems that have complex fractions.
The worksheet meets common core standard 7.RP.1 Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measured in like or different units. For example, if a person walks 1/2 mile in each 1/4 hour, compute the unit rate as the complex fraction 1/2 /1/4 miles per hour, equivalently 2 miles per ho
This worksheet set includes sixteen area problems with algebraic expressions for their dimensions. Students will find the area of rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids for shapes that have algebraic expressions on the sides.
All problems have been designed so that there is a distribution problem on one side of the equation. All problems have an equation on both sides of the equation.
CCSS.Math.Content.7.G.B.6 Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume
In this packet students will be asked to write equations in point-slope form given a point and the slope and given two points. Students will also be asked to convert between point-slope and slope-intercept form given a point and the slope. Students will finally be asked to graph two equations in slope-intercept form on the same coordinate grid and make a conjecture about their relationship.
Meets the following CCSS:
8.EE.5 - Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the
This activity turns reviewing the concepts of finding common factors and exponent rules into a game. Students solve problems to review eight learning targets in an attempt to get all eight badges of math mastery. Once students have shown mastery on all eight learning targets they get the level-up badges.
Students will prove mastery of GCF, algebraic fraction simplification, scientific notation, multiplying and dividing variables with exponents and more as they prepare for more work with fract
This product is meant as a review worksheet for a unit on Radicals. I have included 34 problems on radicals. The review goes into simplifying radicals, multiplying radicals, dividing radicals, adding and subtracting radicals, multiplying binomials with radicals, and distance formula. This worksheet does include some problems that need to be foiled or double distributed.
I have included two versions of the same worksheet. One worksheet has more room than the other for those of you who want t
This Simplifying Fractions Worksheet reviews many rules that are required for fractions to be fully simplified. The worksheet has 20 problems that start off with basic improper fractions, algebraic fractions, algebraic fractions with negative exponents, fractions with decimals, complex fractions, and radicals in fractions.
This worksheet is aligned with the new Common Core Math Standards and can be used as a review for Algebra, 8th Grade Math, or 7th grade Accelerated Math.
