I've taught for 30 years. I've taught art K-6, have been self contained in 5th and 6th grade, and 8th grade math. Math has been my most taught subject, but I find joy in teaching most subjects. I have enjoyed being an academic coach in science and math.

Identifying Patterns in Data Hands-on Activity

Hands on crosscutting concept of patterns:Before our study of electromagnetic waves, I use this activity to remind students how to find patterns where there are not obvious repeating patterns. This skills is important across all levels of science. Students are given three sets of items which they then observe. Through observation, students will classify their data. Once this data is classified with a chart students will evaluate patterns through the data. A quick full class activity is completed

About the store

Experience

I've taught for 30 years. I've taught art K-6, have been self contained in 5th and 6th grade, and 8th grade math. Math has been my most taught subject, but I find joy in teaching most subjects. I have enjoyed being an academic coach in science and math.

Teaching style

I like an active classroom with students partnering and supporting one another in work. I find students who discuss with one another new information have a better understanding of the subject. I emphasize with my students that mistakes are they way we learn. If you are always right, you are not learning. I love a hands on activity, it helps makes the experience more real to the students.
