This is a fun way to help students practice using exponential notation. It can be used as a center or a whole class activity. I used this in my special education classroom to help my students practice the three forms of exponents as a center. This can be used as a special education resource and even a regular education resource! I have included two sets, Set A and Set B. One set has simpler problems (Set B) and the other has more challenging problems where the students will have to multiply high
This is a fun way to review long division involving two-digit divisors with your students in the winter time! The problems are geared towards special education students, using simpler numbers where the division facts are easier. The students have to solve the problems to read the sentence on the bottom. The letters spell out "LET IT SNOW!" In my classroom I had the students show their work on different pictures (Santa hat, stocking, snowman, etc.) to show off in the hallway.
This is a fun way to practice the four operations with decimals in the winter time! This project includes a short word problem that will get your students thinking about a real-life situation that they can relate to and have fun with. This was perfect for my special education students with a few problems to solve, with simple numbers, but still reviewing the four operations with decimals. They will be dividing, multiplying, adding, and subtracting with decimals in this one project. I included a
This is a fun way to practice finding equivalent fractions with your students. They can put hearts back together with equivalent fractions and solve a riddle too! I used this in my special education classroom as additional practice finding equivalent fractions and my students loved it! I created this for special ed students because there is not a lot out there for them to practice with simple numbers in the numerators and denominators. This activity allows them to practice finding equivalent fra
This is a set of 10 long division task cards for the special education classroom. You can use this as a center, or even play Scoot if you have a small resource room. I used this with my sped students in 5th grade and they had fun playing Scoot! The answer sheet leaves room for the students to do their long division, step by step. It could be a great review before a test or quiz!
This is an animal print Assess Yourself chart for students to express how they feel after a lesson. It is a good way to make sure your students understood the lesson taught. It is a fun and quick activity to do for a few minutes at the end of each lesson. Each student can take a second to explain how they feel: Novice, Apprentice, Practitioner, or Expert. When I use this in my classroom it gives the students the confidence to tell me if they are stuck or confused and I can quickly assess the ent
This is a fun way to help special education students practice multiplication of larger numbers. They will be solving 12 multiplication problems including two and three-digit numbers by two-digit numbers and one-digit numbers. The digits in each problem are carefully chosen to make the facts simple, so the students are practicing the skill, and not getting stuck on the basic facts. Allow your sped students to use a multiplication chart to also help them with their facts and they can focus on the
This is a set of notes and examples for students to learn and practice decimal place value up to the thousandths place. This was created for special education students as it is step by step with examples and directions before the students are expected to practice it on their own.
It can be good for independent work or small group work.

This is a fun activity to have your students complete in the beginning of the year. They can set a goal for their year and as they make their goal, you can have a small celebration for them! Help your students to set achievable goals for themselves so each student can feel accomplished by the end of the year. Great for special education students and general education students! Make it subject specific or a general goal for the year, such as achieve straight As! Have the students draw a picture o
Back to school time! This is a cute way to get to know your students and see what their hobbies and interests are. It's a great activity to start the year off on a fun and using Math! The kids will get to choose their favorite things to do and divide the 24 hours in a day to show the teacher. The activity splits the circle into twelfths, but the students can have more than one part for the same activity. This is great for special education students because it is already broken into the twelve pa
I created this file to help my special education students practice multiplying by 1-digit numbers. The questions use simple numbers and facts so my students are able to practice procedures and not struggle with stopping to figure out the basic facts. It is 8 problems with enough space to show all work, whether it be the standard algorithm, area or box method, partial products method, etc. This was used as small group work in a resource pull-out setting and could also be used as a center. The ki
This is a set of notes for you to print and have students paste in their notebooks to teach them the three steps involved in dividing with decimals in the dividend. I use these notes by first explaining each step to the students and showing the notes on the board and then having them paste their notes in their notebooks as a resource. It is easier to print and glue than to have students copy notes and it is a time saver for sure!
Special Education Practice. Use this activity to help your students practice comparing decimals! This handout lets the students cut out the comparing symbols (<,>, =) and paste into a circle in order to compare two decimals. There is also an extra 6 problems for the early finishers! The worksheet comes with a helpful handout that lines up the decimals for the students so they can easily compare before they glue their answers. Great for a math center or as a review for a test!
This is a cute way of asking your students if they understood the lesson. Administrators LOVE exit slips, which could also be used as your closure of a lesson. This asks the students if they understood the lesson and they have to circle yes or no. The students will then answer any question you have on the board. This way, the exit slips can be used for any subject and any lesson repeatedly. I love using these in my classroom everyday! The kids hand it to me when they are finished and I make note
