The "Genre of the Month" project is a year-long reading project. It helps students explore different genres of literature in a fun and engaging way. This is a year-long writing project. Student write a short essay for each letter in the alphabet. They can write on any topic they choose. At the end, they have an alphabet book about things that are important to them. Meanwhile, students are getting practice writing in a fun and meaningful way while you are teaching them mini-lessons that can apply to their writing. Also, this is a great project for your fast finishers.
