Teaching style

My teaching style centers on equity, relevance, and skill building. I intentionally design lessons that connect historical texts and themes to students’ lived experiences, helping them see the past as meaningful, contextual, and connected to the present. I use culturally responsive practices to ensure all students have access to rigorous content while honoring diverse identities, perspectives, and ways of knowing. Instruction is structured and explicit, with scaffolds that support understanding without lowering expectations. I emphasize discussion, critical thinking, and real world connections so students can engage with texts not just as academic material, but as tools for understanding power, identity, and society. The resources I create reflect this approach and are designed to be adaptable, inclusive, and classroom ready.

My own education history

I hold a Master’s degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from DePaul University, where I focused on curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment for secondary classrooms. I also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic World Studies from DePaul University. This interdisciplinary background informs my approach to teaching literature and history through global perspectives, cultural context, and critical analysis.
