It uses some data from the 2013 men's basketball season, but can be altered for future seasons. Each lesson is specifically tied to each round of the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament. This is the final lesson in my NCAA March Madness Statistics Unit. I use as an assessment for the unit. Students will be expected to find mean and standard deviation from a data set, create a 5-number summary and box and whiskers plot, and create a frequency table and histogram. The page numbers referenced in the overview page come from McDougal Littell's 2001 Algebra I textbook.

This activity can be used as a classroom activity to reinforce the concept of the distributive property. I use the activity after we have gone through a few examples together. The activity works best in groups of 2, but you could have them work in groups of 3 or 4 if necessary. The game works just like Memory, only students will be matching a variable expression (with parentheses) to its equivalent simplified expression (without parentheses).
