If you are learning about area and perimeter in your classroom, this is a great activity to use after you have introduced the concept. It is extremely hands on and requires critical thinking skills, collaboration, and problem solving. My students had a blast with it! For this activity you will need toothpicks (at least 30 per group) and the student handout sheets that are included. ENJOY :)

Students will play this game in groups of two. Each partner group will need a set of the materials listed. Shuffle all number cards together and place them in a pile face down. I introduce my multiplication facts one at a time at the beginning of the year. It is always a struggle to get my students to memorize them. These songs have worked wonders for my kiddos, and they love singing them!! I would suggest introducing one song a time when you introduce that particular fact.
