Who Are You Puzzle
The Getting to Know You Puzzle activity is designed to help students learn about each other’s interests and build connections through a creative and interactive process. Each student receives a blank puzzle template and is asked to draw pictures of things they love and are interested in, such as hobbies, favorite animals, sports, foods, or places. After completing their drawings, they cut out the puzzle pieces and exchange them with a partner or group. The students then work on solving the puzzl

Acting Intro
This is a 10-slide intro to acting! It explains what acting is and the six important characteristics of it. I usually have the kids get out a paper and fold it into 6 boxes to complete the assignments/questions highlighted in yellow on the slides. *You can also do this virtually :) After we do this in class, I pair them up and let them memorize basic scenes (short and easy) to get them used to acting.

April Fool's Word Search
The perfect in class (or homework!!) to give kiddos for fun on April Fool's! *****NONE of the words listed are in the word search***** this is simply to play a trick on the kids and have them searching for a while! TIP: Pass one out to each kid and tell them the one who finds all the words first win a prize! Haha!

This product is an outline of what Props are, a link to a Shark Tank Youtube Video where I have students watch and evaluate the 'props'. (Any Shark Tank episode could work). Then, the product lays out a brainstorm of students creating a food prop.

Create Your Own Fable Worksheet
At the end of our Fairy Tale and Fable Unit, I have the students write their own fable then get into groups and share them and choose ONE in their group to perform! You don't necessarily have to do that, you could just have them share and give awards (Best character, Most relatable, etc). This resource is a step-by-step outline for the kiddos to follow to write their own Fable!

Acting 101 Lesson
This is a simple, 6-step PowerPoint for a whole 45-minute lesson for beginning students of theatre! Feel free to create your own notes page if you'd like to, I usually just open up for discussion and have them do a quick ticket out (post-it) activity about which of the components they feel is most important and why!

Teaching style
Honestly, I put building relationships with the kids at the forefront of my classroom always. I primarily teach theatre arts so it is not STAAR tested and I do not have to worry about checking each and every box as core teachers do. However, I do have a Year at a Glance that I get through every year. I value relationships and getting to know the kids more than I do anything else.
All that being said, I decided that I love teaching but being a counselor would allow me to aid students not only in the school, but deeper into their lives as well.
