This is the handout from a workshop on using Google in the classroom on August 2014. I outlined Google Drive, Docs, Forms, Sheets, and Slides in the first half of the workshop. In the second, I went into using YouTube, Google Earth, and some other Google applications. This is a 900+ word outline on the major parts I covered in the workshop.

This is the link from the article on the Durham School Board's website. You need an TPT account to download the file. It's free and the site is a great resource for educators. I hope you find this resource helpful in navigating the Skype Edu site and as a springboard for ways to use Skype in the classroom. The handout is for two workshops taught on Feb 13 for 79 teachers on how to use Skype in the classroom. For an article written about my class and I using Skype, click here: http://bit.ly/sk

I taught 3 workshops in our school district's Summer Institute 2014 and this is the handout for the second workshop entitled, "Everything Else Technology". The morning session was on using Google Apps and Docs. Instead of a 1 page, 400 word handout though, this one is 5 pages and 3000+ words with an overview of each and an example or two to try. Included are 10 of my favourite ways to use technology in a classroom. Topics range from parent-teacher communication, ideas for the flipped classroom

This is a lesson that was promised in an article I wrote in Canadian Teacher Magazine in the Sept/Oct 14 issue. (bit.ly/1BxF1Va) The two lessons in the article were Place Value and Symmetry lessons. This one here is a kinesthetic Geometry lesson that uses Frisbee Golf and Google Earth to teach Transformational Geometry. Included are step by step instructions on how to use Google Earth to complete the activity, as well as two worksheets. I've included the Ontario Geometry Curriculum Expectatio

This is a handout from the WIRED for Success Tech Conference from Nov, 2014. I presented 3 workshops and this is the handout from one of them. Included are 8 creative ideas to teach Math that all involved using technology at the point of learning and instruction. The appropriate content is for grades 4-6. Some carry over is appropriate for grade 7-8, but all of the types of technology are engaging for K-12. Some of the ideas have videos uploaded into my YouTube channel that are free to view as

Exactly as the title reveals, I want to liven up your assessment for students by using these 3 pieces of technology. Students will suddenly not be so bummed out when it's time for a quiz! Remember that Pixels affect Perception! Teach Smarter!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I’ve had the opportunity to write for and be featured in over 20 magazines, newspapers, and other publications across Canada, the US, and even Australia. One of the "shining teacher moments" has been securing grants for the schools I've taught at. I’m grateful to have helped bring in over $30k in grant funding, which has supported various initiatives and projects.

My own education history

Proudly attended Tyndale University's Faculty of Education class of 2010.
