Unit 2: Interactions Among Living ThingsIn this unit students will learn how living things in any environment interact with each other. This is a rubric designed to help eliminate the guesswork in grading lab reports. It is broken down section by section with each section being given a specific numerical point value. It is designed primarily for Middle School Science but it can be used for Grades 7 thru 10.

Unit 1 - Introduction - What do Scientists do?In this unit students are learning about the “practices” of science. Students will make observations, take measurements, and analyze and interpret data. This unit includes a set of questions (and their answers) that can be used in many ways. For example: lesson openers, exit tickets, even pop quizzes. This unit includes questions about basic processes of science, such as: hypothesizing, data collecting, and graphing. There is a sample graph and even a demonstration. Questions can be printed and handed out to students to use in a way that best fits your needs.

Students create an imaginary nation and design its form of government; create its laws, and explain its customs.

Understand natural rights, and brainstorm ways to protect them. Students perform "Its My Right" activity.

Students will understand the basic definition of government.

Students design and carry out their own investigation.

Determine the features of a valid (fair test) experiment. Includes worksheet: "What's Wrong with this Experiment?' and Answer Key

Create a survey question, gather class data, then organize it in a way they feel is best.

Review/sharpen estimation skills, and measure various items.
