Data Question Types Sort: Categorical or Numerical

Created by
Ms Baird
(Almost) no prep sorting activity for students to practice identifying if a statistical question is referring to numerical or categorical data. Simply print, copy, cut, and set out. Could be used as a stations-type activity, a formative assessment, partner work, cooperative group work, or a springboard for a discussion on data types.

Intro to Mean Absolute Deviation

This PowerPoint explains what mean absolute deviation is and how to find it. Gives some easy practice sets for students. I created this while teaching 6th grade mathematics to help my students understand the concept. My district required me to introduce the topic, and wanted students to have a general understanding of how to find the mean absolute deviation, so the PowerPoint does not go too deep.

Awards & shining teacher moments

A student I taught in 2012 who really struggled with math got an A on a recent test in 7th grade. She immediately stated that she could not wait to come see me and tell me because I "would be so proud". This was before she asked her current teacher to call her mom and brag on her A.
