We studied endangered animals so this could be edited for a different topic but teaches children how to plan what information they want to included while writing an essay, or for us it was just a book in first grade! This way they knew what they wanted to display on each page.

Students search for facts on their animals. This was great for a graphic organizer for our class to create books on different types of animals.

Each morning we have 5 centers in first grade and this is one of them. We edit it each week to review lessons we learned in the week before. It incorporates math, reading and writing.

Students choose an animal, learn facts about the animal and then write words that rhyme with their facts. These turned out so much fun in first grade

Children can use different markers/colored pencils/crayons and write their sight words 5 times each with different colors. Makes a fun sight word center for the little ones.
