This sildeshow covers the Aztec, Maya, and Inca civilizations. It includes printable fill in notes for students and a post note activity for each civilization. It also has multiple videos embedded into it to break up the note taking. This was designed to be ELL (English Language Learner) friendly with simple context focused langauge used throughout. I had great success with this in my 6th grade ELL social studies classes. I hope you find it jsut as useful in your own classes!

In this assignment students are asked to make their own flag and then explain their reasoning behind what they create. It has a brainstorming activity built into it help the stduents get their ideas out onto paper before creating their final flag. I use it as a begnign of the year activity as one way of getting to know my students. However, you could use this at any time really. Have some fun with your students before the holidays! This is a complete trivia game that highlights 10 different winter holidays around the world. The game is broken down into 5 rounds, with 10 questions in each. All answers are revealed at the end of each round. These word wall slides come in 5 different languages! They have English, Spanish (red), Portuguese (green), Haitian Creole (blue), and French (purple). All of the words in this deck have a central theme of natural forces, specifically hurricanes, volcanoes, and earthquakes. There are 24 word cards in total each including: the definition, the main word in all five languages, a picture, and an example sentence!
This activity was designed for a newcomers' social studies class. The students in this class are learning English but all have a home language that is either Spanish or Portuguese. In the activity students will be reading about different gods and goddesses from ancient Egypt and then creating a poster about one to share with the class. This acticity was used in an ELL (English Language Learner's) level 1 geography class. It was used to recape physical features and get students to start exploring which types of physical features that can be found in Latin America.
