About the store
I began my career at the high school level, teaching 11th Grade American Literature. Though my high school students were wonderful, when I had the opportunity to teach 7th Grade I really fell in love with what I had decided was going to be my life long career. The journey I have had in middle school has been exciting, interesting, humorous and unforgettable. I am currently teaching 6th and 7th grade English language arts but recently taught 8th grade as well.

All Summer in a Day NON-FICTION PAIRED TEXT
This lesson includes a non fiction paired text that connects Margot's depression to Seasonal Affective Disorder. The lesson includes the article, 2 short answer questions, a graphic organizer, and a constructed-response question that requires students to use evidence from both the article and the short story. Students need to support their answers with evidence from the text and then a graphic organizer comparing the causes and symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder to what happens to Margot as

Virtual Classroom Employees and Classroom Agreements Activity
In this double lesson, students apply for virtual classroom employee jobs! After applying for jobs, the class also co-creates classroom agreements or norms. The employee jobs include an attendance clerk, tech manager, and class manager. The slides also show both Google Classroom Assignments I created to go along with each lesson. This is about 100 minutes of virtual class time and is a great way to start the year!

Experience
I began my career at the high school level, teaching 11th Grade American Literature. Though my high school students were wonderful, when I had the opportunity to teach 7th Grade I really fell in love with what I had decided was going to be my life long career. The journey I have had in middle school has been exciting, interesting, humorous and unforgettable. I am currently teaching 6th and 7th grade English language arts but recently taught 8th grade as well.
Teaching style
My focus for my students is both data driven and engagement driven. I have a number of "Focus" lessons that incorporate brain research in regards to improving retention rates in adolescent students. These lessons include direct instruction with student interaction as well as independent practice. I also try to include fun, innovate, student driven activities that keeps class our class moving and kids involved in their own education.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I was currently asked to be on the District Site and Learning Team. I am part of a select group partnered with administrators from the district who observe and provide feedback to our teachers throughout the district.
