This assignment has students working on completing and reading two way tables and Venn diagrams in order to find probabilities. I have used this as a graded assignment and most recently gave it as partner assessment in Google Meet breakout rooms. There are two multi-part questions involving two-way tables and one with Venn diagrams.

This lesson provides notes as well as a note taking guide and exercise for students. There is also a class activity meant to get students thinking about how we graph different types of data. Students usually have no trouble with the categorical data, but sometimes get stumped as to how to graph the numerical data. When I first started teaching AP Statistics, one of the hardest things was figuring out the pacing of the course in order to complete everything and still have time to review for the exam!
