Fan N Pick is great strategy to use with task cards in math. This placemat goes in the middle of the table so the students know there job. After the card has been solved and check the placemat rotates so that everyone has a new role.

This reviews all four operations with fractions, as well as dividing fractions word problems. This would be a good end of the year review prior to state testing or a final exam.

Students were to create a situation that was a function. I let them create these on big poster paper. This is a great interactive activity for students when teaching them how to translate phrases to algebraic expressions. First, give students there card (page 3 and 4), don't let them show anyone. They must determine which phrase or algebraic expression their card matches on the game board. I made this time independent think time. These are perfect for a classroom that is bursting with group work and activities. Put these either taped on your desks or in your group work baskets in the middle of the tables or desk. These are a great way to help students start conversations with peers and learn how to extend their knowledge with help from their group members. My students eventually memorized these questions and I would hear these conversations as a rotated the room. Such a good feeling!
