This graphic organizer makes it simple to teach your students how to link 3 key details from a text to the main idea! At the beginning of the year, we fill this graphic organizer out as a class. Over time, we identify the main idea together and students begin to find the details on their own. Eventually, students are filling out the organizer completely independently and even using it to write a summary using transition words! Note: The graphic organizer is differentiated for writing abilities.

These CUBES posters come in both black and white as well as color. You can use these as an interactive coloring sheet where students have to add the circle, underline, box, and other symbols on their own, or simply print these as ready-to-use posters. The dashed line around the edge can serve as a border or a cutting guide if you want these to be glued into interactive math journals!
