MsQMathIsCool
Students will enjoy this artistic activity/project that uses Desmos.com to create a visual masterpiece. Some students will enjoy making their artwork aesthetically pleasing, while others will enjoy the abstract art concepts they can create. Having the students write both the equation, graph the function, and use a verbal description will require students to become familiar with transformation vocabulary. Document is uploaded as a word file so you can adjust with details of due dates and specifi

In this self-checking gallery walk, students will practice solving and writing absolute value equations. Students can start at any card and after answering the question on that card they will be lead to another card with the correct answer on it. Students should answer all questions before finishing the loop. An answer key and two options for student response pages are provided. Either print the slides out on 8.5x11 pages and put them up on the walls or make a copy of the file and remove the tea

This is a pdf of quick notes and short practice page used with my Math Lab (Algebra 1 Intervention) class to learn a new, and visual, way to solve equations. Most of my students are SPED and they really liked this new technique. I've uploaded this resource and its .doc counterpart to my website msq-mathiscool.weebly.com if you wanted to word document version to edit. Shoutout to @Crisstie Crim (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Crisstie-Crim) for sharing the knowledge of this new way to

Systems of Equations with Shapes - 3 Variables

MsQMathIsCool
Use this activity to introduce the concepts of systems of equations in three variables. Students will solve for the value of a shape (as if it was a variable). Would be great to use as a hook or warm-up before showing these advanced types of systems of equations. The problems increase in difficulty. **May be best to introduce when setting up and solving matrices as well!

This is a BreakoutEDU activity that uses four locked boxes to lead students through the many various ways to solve an equation. Students will begin with Problem 1 and find a solution that leads them to unlock the first box. Inside this first box, place the Problem 2 for each team. Repeat until all of the problems are finished and students officially "break-out!".

Students will be led around a series of 12 questions that check their ability to find slope in various representations (points, tables, graphs, verbal description) as well as create equations of lines in point-slope form. Many of the questions can be answered by MATCHING the equation to a picture/table/etc. Great for STAAR Prep or any

TEKS A1.11(B). Great scavenger hunt for the first day of exponent rules. Most of the problems are very simple (not STAAR or high level) but great for fresh, new material. Can be used for Algebra 2 to review exponent rules taught in Algebra 1 before quadratics unit.

Quiz Quiz Trade cards to use for a stand up class activity. Each card has a question and an answer that should be printed on the back. Additionally, most of the cards have Coaching Tips (in kid-friendly language) that the students can use to help their peers answer the questions. Some of these QQT cards are lower level. I used them as a quick review/warm-up before our Chapter 6 test. These are also my first time making QQT cards for my class so please give me grace for errors.

This is a very engaging game that students will enjoy playing. A little class competition goes a long way! I used it during STAAR Review and the kids thought it was very fun! Each team will have a minute to get their teammates to guess the word on the slip of paper each round. Once a word is completed it will be taken out of the bowl and a point will be added for that team. If a team doesn’t guess the word by the end of the round it goes back in the fishbowl. Once all of the pieces of paper ar
