Preview of Converting Point Slope Form to Slope Intercept Form

Converting Point Slope Form to Slope Intercept Form

This practice assignments allows students to work on 1) putting a given point and slope into Point Slope Form 2) distributing, simplifying, and solving for y and 3) see the difference between the two formulas. This assignment gives students an example to refer to, and each question provides a point and a slope.
Preview of Slope from Two Points

Slope from Two Points

This worksheet gives students two points. They are to use the slope formula to find slope. This will assess their ability to use the formula correctly. There are also a couple questions that will give them a slope of zero or undefined.
Preview of Function Notation and the Coordinate Plane

Function Notation and the Coordinate Plane

This assignment asks students to complete an input/output chart, plot those points on the coordinate plan, determine what type of function it is, and find f(2). This worksheet helps students to connect the idea of a function from an equation to a function on a graph.
Preview of Slope Review

Slope Review

This review includes finding slope from 2 points, slope from a graph, slope from a table, slope from an equation, slope from standard form, finding x and y intercepts, writing equations when given 2 points, writing equations when given m and b, writing equations when given the point and slope, parallel and perpendicular lines, and plugging in numbers to point slope. I use this review to play trashket ball in my classes.
Preview of Elimination using Addition

Elimination using Addition

This assignment is practice for students to work on using addition with elimination. This is what I use as a day one assignment. I split addition and subtraction into two days in order for students to practice getting the concept of Elimination down. First, students solve the problems. Then, students match their answers with letters from a bank. The word will spell out "Eliminated" and fills in a definition of Elimination.
Preview of Slope from a Graph

Slope from a Graph

This short worksheet gives an equation and the corresponding graph. Students are asked to find the slope of the line. They do this by using their understanding of "rise over run" or "y's over x's". At the end of the assignment, they are asked to write a paragraph about any connections they can make between an equation, the graph, and the slope.
Preview of Standard Form: Solve for Y

Standard Form: Solve for Y

This worksheet has students first put each equation into Standard Form, and then solve for Y (which is basically going from Standard form to Slope intercept form); but I let my students discover that on their own.
Preview of Add, Subtract, Multiply Functions

Add, Subtract, Multiply Functions

This worksheet addresses the ability to perform different operations with different functions (written in function notation). There are 15 questions. The assignment gives different functions to work with, and different inputs for them.
Preview of Slope from a Table

Slope from a Table

Students are asked to find the slope, when given a table with points. The, students will have to first complete the table by inputting the x values to get the corresponding y values. After doing this, they will be able to find the slope. This will help their understanding of the slope formula, and connect this idea back to function notation and lines.
Preview of Function Notation

Function Notation

This worksheet first asks students to fill out input/output tables and graph those points. After doing this, students will determine what type of function it is and find the function at a certain point. Then, students will start adding and subtracting functions.
Preview of Finding Slope from a Graph

Finding Slope from a Graph

This worksheet gives two different graphs to look at. Each graph have about 5 lines on them. Students will look at the different lines, and figure out the slope for each. They will then compare some of the lines and their slopes.
Preview of Polynomials

Polynomials

This worksheet has students work through problems where they must determine whether expressions are polynomials, the degree of polynomials, write polynomials in standard form, and determine leading coefficients.
Preview of Substitution- solve then substitute

Substitution- solve then substitute

This is a day 2 assignment when covering substitution. On this worksheet, students are to first solve one of the equations for y (slope intercept form) and then use substitution to find the solution to the system of equations.
Preview of Substitution

Substitution

This is a first day assignment for using Substitution to solve Systems of Equations. This worksheet has two equations, with one of them already in slope intercept form. Students are to substitute the equation that is already in slope intercept form into the other equation, and solve for x. After they find x, they need to substitute that value into one of the equations to find their y. Their answer should be their solution written as an ordered pair.
Preview of Multiplying Monomials

Multiplying Monomials

This is a homework assignment that asks students to determine whether expressions are monomials or not and simplify expressions with rules such as "product of powers", "power of a power" and "power of a product". This assignments guides students to see the relationship between variables, constants, and their exponents.
Preview of Factoring and Monomials

Factoring and Monomials

This worksheet includes problems where students are required to do the following: prime factorization, GCF, factor pairs, factoring monomials, and finding the GCF from a set of monomials. This worksheet is a good way to start off a section over factoring polynomials.
Preview of Graphing Systems of Equations- Number of Solutions

Graphing Systems of Equations- Number of Solutions

This worksheet is geared toward the first couple days of learning Systems of Equations. It has students graph two lines, and then determine how many solutions the Systems have.
Preview of Graphing Systems of Equations

Graphing Systems of Equations

Students are required to graph the system and determine how many solutions it has. They also will determine the number of solutions from just the equations.
Preview of Polynomial Review

Polynomial Review

Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, Dividing different types of Polynomials
Preview of Graphing Systems of Equations: Number of Solutions

Graphing Systems of Equations: Number of Solutions

This assignment requires students to determine how many solutions each system has. First, they find the number of solutions from a graph. Then, they have to find the number of solutions by looking at the equations and comparing the slopes and y-intercepts.

About the store

Experience

I am a first year teacher. I spent my undergrad as an Elementary Education major and completed my certification for Middle Level/Intermediate Mathematics. I now teacher 9th grade, Algebra 1.

Teaching style

I have a variety of different approaches. I have launched a semi-flipped classroom, and I have been working on different ways of incorporating technology in education. While doing so, I still look for ways to incorporate hands on activities. I also still use older styles by lecturing and using worksheets targeted toward expanding practice opportunities for my students.

My own education history

I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Elementary Education, and a certification in Middle Level/Intermediate Mathematics.
