This activity includes shapes with two columns. One for students to find the correct numbers substituted into the formula correctly, and one with the final answer (area or missing side length). There are several distractor cards that do not match with any of the problems so students have to pay careful attention to make sure they are choosing the correct card. This also includes an independent follow up worksheet that does not come with cards so students have to write in the formula and answer.

I use this quiz as a first introduction to a Criterion D assessment. Prior to this we have class discussions about what it means to explain the accuracy and determine whether an answer makes sense in the context. When I give the quizzes back, I go through these examples to help students better understand what it means to explain the accuracy and determine whether an answer makes sense in the context.
