I have been in education for 23 years! I taught math for 11 years, spent two years as a math coach, then I gladly returned to the classroom to be back with the kids! I now teach Math and Social Studies!
My students do a Skills Check every week to help keep them sharp, previewing new topics using prerequisite skills, and spiral reviewing. This activity can get done independently or in a pair but keeps them up and moving around. It is also self checking because it will bring them back to where they started! I would print two sets and put one set in the hall and the other around my classroom. My students would see the sheets up and get so excited to do Math for the day! Stay tuned for more of thes
Teachers: - This is a group work challenge for students. - Print one copy per group and laminate everything. Also print a copy of the answer sheet (second sheet) for yourself. - Cut out the squares from the second sheet and put into a small plastic bag. - Each group will get a blank board and a set of squares to put back together. - You can keep everything together to reuse each year in a gallon size bag! When I do this, I will start to give placement of pieces after about 15 minutes or after

Teaching style
