When I needed to prepare for an 8-week maternity leave, I was overwhelmed. I needed to really think about all the things a long-term sub would need to be successful. Well, here is what I put together to give you an idea of the things necessary to leave for him/her. The actual daily plans are NOT included, as these are too specific to my class. Everything else included is to give you ideas and to use as your templates to adapt for your own specifics. Included are such things as Calendar rou

This is a blank circle map that you may use for almost anything! For example, after writing the word "transportation" in the middle and copying the page, I had my Pre-K students draw pictures of transportation around the outside. Could be used across grade levels and subject areas! (The thumbnail doesn't show, but there should be a smaller circle in the middle.)
This includes 24 Fall words with pictures separated into boxes for easy cut out. You can use them for a writing center or for individual student dictionaries.
For writing center: Print, cut out, glue onto inside of manilla folder with label on front cover and laminate. You have a perfect folder for students to use for Fall writing!
For Make-A-Match (Concentration) game: print two copies, cut out and glue onto index cards, laminate and let students play concentration at a center.

Wondering what to do with your parent volunteers?
This is a set of 6 activities ideas that your parent volunteers can do with your Pre-K, K or possibly 1st grade class. Included are directions for your parent volunteer to follow for each activity. In some cases, you will need to provide the game such as ABC Bingo, but they are all very basic and are things you probably have anyway! You will get 6 activity ideas with directions for how to adjust for the level of the group in most cases.
This is a letter we use to request a family photo for each student to bring in and share as part of our unit on Family. Can be used for Pre-K, K or even 1st grade. We give each child a baggie with his/her name on it and send it with the letter. Letter is translated into Spanish, so you can copy back to back or send separately.
These Articulation forms have a place to indicate name, gender, birthday, academic levels, etc. in order to create heterogeneous or homogeneous groupings for next year. (There are 2 cards per page.) We used something like this each year at my school to generate classes by looking at reading levels and other factors. They are helpful to copy, fill out, cut out and line up in groupings.
They are simple, but effective!
This is a letter requesting parent volunteers for classroom help. It is perfect for Elementary School! It has times/days at the bottom, that you can change to suit your own schedule. It has been translated into Spanish on the second page, for those of us who work in schools where we want all parents to be involved! It's all done for you, just change the days and times!
Kids can make their own book showcasing who they are! This is a 10 page book including name, age, hair color, favorite food, and much more! You can have students do one page a day and create a nice keepsake to share and take home. Students can do their own writing on the blank lines or can dictate or copy. It's up to you!
