STEM/NGSS Unit 2 Lesson 1 Developing A Model of Matter and Energy

STEM/NGSS LESSON: The student develops a particle model of matter in motion to be applied to further lessons. Lesson include Understanding by Design (UbD) big ideas The student observes demonstrations and deduces that particles of matter must be in motion, and that temperature depends on particle speed (kinetic energy). Demonstrations require food coloring. Video links are available of the demos. Accompanies other lessons in Unit 2, but can also stand alone. NGSS Standards: MS-PS1-1 MS-PS1-4
