This bright and colorful ten frame activity is apple based. The trees are numbered and the kids match the ten frame apple to the right tree. This activity uses the numbers 1 - 20 and a worksheet is included for student accountability. You could also use counters with the trees or the apples.

This is a great activity to help young children understand how subtraction woks. First the student(s) draw a card from the pile. Then they count out how many owl's they need and place them on the tree (velcro or magnets are best). Then they read the subtraction question and take away the right amount of owls. There are 2 great games for 4-6 year olds that are learning to compare numbers to each other. The bugs and butterflies are bright, colorful and so much fun to play with. There are 3 different worksheets included. My own daughters use this, they sometimes use the bug cards to play war. They really enjoy pretending to feed the leaves to the bug with the bigger number.
