Experience

With twenty-three years classroom experience, I've taught students at every academic level (special ed. to gifted) and socioeconomic group (from the poorest to children of multi-millionaires) in grades 5, 6, and 7. As a School Administrator of a private Christian school, I invested thirteen years working with children in grades 1 to 12 - with many of the same parameters as my classroom experience. Teaching style

Good teachers exhibit most teaching styles during any given school week, but my predominate style is that of a coach. As a coach, I seek to support the long-term development of the students in my care. I seek to help each child identify their unique strengths and weaknesses, offer remediation for areas of struggle, and help them plan for continued development as they grow toward adulthood by providing ongoing feedback and redirection that encourages long learning and development in an academic setting. In my classroom, this sign is posted: "Not knowing is not the same as being stupid; it just means that you do not know. Education is the remedy for not knowing."
