For the math section of the PARCC test, students will be required to memorize requisite knowledge for the test. I have created a reference sheet , along with three different fill in the blank worksheets to help the students prepare for the test.
Worksheets can be given as:
Homework
Math Warm up
Morning Work
Quiz
In this activity students can work together or individually. Students receive menu with eight items and prices. Next, students answer multiplication questions based on the menu prices.
Ex. How much would it cost if you bought an ice cream for you and a friend?
In my class, I do a " Secret Snowman" , very much like a "Secret Santa". For the next 3 Fridays after Thanksgiving students leave their secret snowman small gifts. On the day of the holiday party, they reveal who their partner is by giving them a gift of $5.
Here is the letter I send home to the parents.
The "All About Me Bag" project is a great project to get to know your students and their interests. I often assign this project the first week of school.
Give each child a bag and attach the label and poem provided in this purchase.
Students fill their bag with four items that show their interests or something about them. I have also had children write a paragraph about each object.
This is a great way to asses writing skills in the beginning of the school year.
This comprehension quiz is based on the story, "Star of Fear, Star of Hope" with a focus on story elements, such as main characters, problems, solution, narrator, and setting. There are six multiple choice, a short answer, and a short response.
