This comprehension quiz is based on the story, "Star of Fear, Star of Hope" with a focus on story elements, such as main characters, problems, solution, narrator, and setting. There are six multiple-choice, a short answer, and along response. 6 questions are self-graded, short answer, and long response need to be graded manually.

In my class, I do a " Secret Snowman" , very much like a "Secret Santa". For the next 3 Fridays after Thanksgiving students leave their secret snowman small gifts. On the day of the holiday party, they reveal who their partner is by giving them a gift of $5.

The checklist is broken down into four categories: Narrative Elements, Language to Effectively Clarify Ideas, and Grammar & Usage. Open response question for after reading Chapter 6 of Holes.
