Geometrocity Project- Geometry End of Year Performance Task

Created by

End of year performance task! Perfect way to review the school year, especially after state testing! Students will create a city through three phases. 1. Permits: students show their previous skills and abilities 2. Design: students plan the city map on graph paper 3. Construction: students build the city using 3D modeling Covers: Parallel/ Perpendicular Lines Angle Relationships Circle Equations Area & Perimeter Composite Shapes 3D Shapes Volume & Surface Area Midpoint & Distance Scale Fa

Transformations Performance Task- Quilt Making Project

Created by
On Task Math
Transformations (Rigid Motions) Performance Task Art Project Students will perform transformations to create a quilt square in one quadrant of the graph. Then they will reflect and rotate that quadrant to complete the quilt throughout the entire coordinate plane. Can be differentiated to increase rigor, used as an assessment, extra credit etc.

Transversal Angle Relationships Project- City Planning Performance Task

Created by
On Task Math
Students will create a city map by following requirements for roads and buildings. Requirements include parallel and perpendicular lines, a transversal, and transversal angle relationships. The students will write the equation of each road they create then add buildings to represent the angle relationships. This activity can be scaffolded by providing a street line equation as a starting point. This includes an extended edition that incorporates midpoint and distance!

Area and Perimeter Project- Backyard Design Performance Task

Created by
On Task Math
Students will practice finding the area and perimeter of shapes while designing a backyard landscape on graph paper (not included). The project can also be completed virtually using a graphing software. You can increase the rigor by requiring the shapes to have sides that do not fall on the coordinate plane and require students to use the distance formula or Pythagorean Theorem.

About the store

Experience

Five years teaching at the high school level. Three years teaching Algebra 1, 4 years of Geometry, and 1 year teaching College Algebra. I have taught students on level and up to two years accelerated.

Teaching style

My current school has 90 minute blocks on an A/B day rotation. I use guided notes for direction instruction, activities for review, and prefer performance tasks for assessments. I work hard to keep my students engaged during class and show how math applies in real life as much as possible!

My own education history

Bachelors in Integrated Mathematics and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.
