End of year performance task! Perfect way to review the school year, especially after state testing! Students will create a city through three phases. 1. Transformations (Rigid Motions) Performance Task Art Project Students will perform transformations to create a quilt square in one quadrant of the graph. Then they will reflect and rotate that quadrant to complete the quilt throughout the entire coordinate plane. Can be differentiated to increase rigor, used as an assessment, extra credit etc.

Students will create a city map by following requirements for roads and buildings. Requirements include parallel and perpendicular lines, a transversal, and transversal angle relationships. The students will write the equation of each road they create then add buildings to represent the angle relationships. This activity can be scaffolded by providing a street line equation as a starting point. This includes an extended edition that incorporates midpoint and distance!

Students will practice finding the area and perimeter of shapes while designing a backyard landscape on graph paper (not included). The project can also be completed virtually using a graphing software. You can increase the rigor by requiring the shapes to have sides that do not fall on the coordinate plane and require students to use the distance formula or Pythagorean Theorem.
