Sinusoidal Models Classwork Activity

When teaching graphs of sine and cosine functions it can be really beneficial to work in some real-world applications of their graphs as so many phenomena follow a sinusoidal model - including populations in predator-prey relationships. In this assignment, students will work with data from two animal populations over a period of time. Student will be asked to look at each population individually, creating sinusoidal models for both, and then comparatively. This assignment works great as a clas

Right Triangle Trigonometry Project

If you are looking for a project to assign for either in class work or at home work this is it. This project should be done after students are able to set up and solve right triangle trigonometry problems, and they are familiar with angles of elevation. I worked on this assignment over the course of two days. On day 1, I had students create their own clinometers and practice using them (materials listed in resources). On day 2, we walked around the school campus together and they calculated the

Graphing Sine and Cosine Functions - COMPLETE UNIT Notes Packet

In this packet, you will find a complete unit of notes designed to help students understand the sine and cosine functions. In the four lessons worth of notes included in this packet, students will: sketch the parent graphs of sine and cosine functions using the special angles around the unit circlelearn the different vocabulary used to describe the characteristics of sinusoidal functions and find those characteristics by looking at an equation and a graphgraph sine and cosine equations with vari

Station Activity - Triangle Trigonomtery and Circular Angles (with answers)

This resource is perfect as an alternative to a review worksheet. In this Station Activity I set up six groups around my classroom. Two of them will have the Station #1 Problems, two will have the Station #2 Problems, and two will have the Station #3 Problems on them. I do this just to have smaller groups form, this is just my preference, but I believe smaller groups encourage more discussion without forcing it. Students will rotate through the stations in your classroom practicing solving trian

Teaching style

In a nutshell, my teaching still is a combination of everything. Are there days where a quick session at the board is going to be efficient and effective, SURE! Of course, there are other days where station activities are great, or projects are needed.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was nominated Teacher of the Year at the end of the 2020 school year. It was a great end to the first chapter in my education career!

My own education history

As a lover of numbers from a young age, I knew math was my future. Growing up, I loved teaching. Whether that was play-based as a babysitter, or as a swim lesson instructor, I knew I had a passion for seeing others learn. Combine the two and there was no other choice than to become a math teacher.
