As students share their work to meet Common Core State Standards for Listening and Speaking, have students show accountability by using this Peer feedback share sheet for comments which include TAG guidelines (Tell something you like, Ask a question, Give a good suggestion) and rate each other. This is useful in the lower grades to promote accountable talk, student discourse, teamwork, and promoting awareness for future improvements as a class. Can be used for partner, small group or whole clas

Start your year off right and stay organized by printing a few pages of this template for each student. I have found it helpful to staple this onto the back of a student folder for easy access. I write down behavioral observations and refer to this for report cards and parent conferences. Provides space for a quick jot of observations, date, time, place, and action taken.

When students misbehave, it is important for them to think about and understand what they did wrong. More importantly, to follow their actions with consequences, students should consider what they should have done instead. After an incident, a child can complete this think sheet with 3 columns: What I did, Why it was wrong, and What should I have done. Then this sheet can be filed by the teacher or sent home for a parent signature. Hopefully, this will encourage more thoughtful and positive

For all content areas, confer with your students to keep track of where they are and meet their needs in small group reteach lessons. First, write each student's name on the top of each box and make multiple copies for your binder. Next, jot down a teaching point, observations, compliments, strategies taught, and next steps. Then, use a high-lighter to color code and highlight commonalities of weaknesses. Finally, in the small group reteach box below, color in the dot to match the commonalit

Use this template for any subject/grade as you circulate and observe students' understandings. Just write in your students' names and make copies as a template. Then check the High, Medium, or Low column based on what students respond or how they performed on a task. activity, objective, skill, etc. Use the comments column for side notes. Kids make me laugh!

Teaching style

My students enjoy hands-on learning the most. Promoting process art, using Choice boards, encouraging student voice and student choice, incorporating technology such as iPads and the Smartboard keeps little ones engaged and excited about learning. I love a pop of color as an eye-opener all over the classroom without being overly-stimulating. Each year brings new creatures for studying from tadpoles, mealworms, and caterpillars to guinea pigs and hermit crabs. I believe in developing the whole child and finding the gift in all of us. I hope to make lasting memories for my students as we support each other through learning, laughing and whatever comes our way!
