I am a working artist and author of the book, Shadow Lessons, Wipe&Stock Publishers, 2012. I hold a BFA from Atlanta College of Art (1978) and an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design (2012). I have taught art for over 10 years with my primary focus of urban students. I studied under such teachers as Ansel Adams, Ed Ross, Milton Glaser and Stephen Knudsen.

This drawing lessons focuses on the techniques of shading, and blending and values. It focuses on four major Renaissance artists, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Donatelo. Half of the assignments are of Leonardo da VInci's work. These assignments make for a great introduction to studying the Renaissance period. Half of the lessons incorporate reading with a focus on a particular vocabulary word.

This art lesson is an introduction to angles and geometric shapes using a metatron cube. Students are introduced to this mathematical wonder of shapes by discovering the many geometrical dynamics within the cube. Students appoint a different color to each geometrical shape and with a few minutes they have produced a work of art that reflects balance, rhythm and symmetry. Color pencils are used and a cotton swab with baby oil may be used to blend the colors together.

My teaching style is to first create an environment that is inviting and filled curiosity. I teach that Life is about making choices each day and art is all about making creative choices in life.
