I created this resource to help my 6th graders understand how to use operations with decimals in real life. The problems are based off a real event (softball tournament) so it's absolutely applicable to life! This activities ties in 6.NS.3 as well as reviews how to write equations, in preparations for 6.EE.7 (new Utah math standards). This resource includes the menu (full page and half page) and 2 worksheets with word problems using the menu. The 1st worksheet is adding and subtracting decimals
This handout has students practice finding both positive and negative numbers on a horizontal number line. Students practice converting from decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals, then plotting them on the number line. This is also a great way to check for understanding after teaching students to plot negative fractions and decimals on a number line. Answer key is included.
This worksheet is great for composing and decomposing three digit numbers using place value blocks. This has the same formatting as my other products like it, but this time I included some word problems to practice reading numbers, then decomposing and composing them. It's a great way to transition from practice to application.
Help your students learn and practice their next number fluency and counting to 100! These are about 3.5 x 2 sized cards, so great for small groups, pairs, or individual practice.
There are 2 version of this assignment. The first version is easier than the second. Students have to plot ordered pairs and draw a Happy New Year party hat. The second version is the same as the first, but the students also have to draw a topper on the hat, so it is a little harder. This is a great graphing review for students coming back from winter break! Students can color the confetti and party hat, to make this a fun coloring page to welcome the new year!
This worksheet gives students the formulas to find the area of triangles, quadrilaterals, and other polygons. It goes along with the 6th grade math standard 6.G.1.
This mystery coloring page helps students practice factoring and finding multiples of different numbers. The picture should be of a tree with lights going around it and ornaments on it.
I created this timeline for my 6th graders to get a better understanding of the basic events in world history and where in the world they took place. The time periods are close estimates, but are not exact. This is meant to give students a "big picture" look at world history. If you see any errors, please let me know! I researched these dates so they should be pretty accurate.
I created this based off the Utah freshwater ecosystems. Everything in it is factual except the graph. Students can use this to discuss real life ecosystems and food webs. Included is a part about invasive species in Utah reservoirs and asks students to analyze its impact on the ecosystems as well as find a solution to the problems they cause.
Use this packet for students who are writing an informative essay, but also researching their topic. This includes a 4 square writing outline and a place to write the rough draft. At the end of the packet there is a checklist for students to use when they are finishing their final draft.
Students will be graphing whole numbers and decimal numbers (only 0.5 decimals) on both the x and y axis in quadrant 1. There are two versions of the leaf. The first version has the words "happy fall" in the middle of the leaf, but the second does not say "happy fall". You choose whichever version makes the most sense for what you want your students doing. I use the blank leaf and have students color them and make a fall tree on our hallway bulletin board. If you want it to say something other t
This was created to help my 1st grade practice their adding fluency as well as understanding place value of ones and tens. The adding is only adding up to 20. One side is formatted to be like 12 + 2 = 10 + 4. The other side is vertical addition with place value blocks for help.
There are multiple versions of this assignment. Some are more simple than others. In all versions, students have to plot ordered pairs and draw half a heart. They then reflect that half of a heart over the y-axis. This teaches them about reflecting over an axis and lines of symmetry. This is a great graphing review for students to do in February! Students can color the hearts, to make this a fun coloring page to celebrate Valentine's Day!
This worksheet goes along with learning about positive and negative numbers, graphing in all 4 quadrants, finding the distance of line segments, finding the perimeter of a shape on a graph, and finding the area of a shape on a graph. Answer key included.
