This was created for my Moderate/Severe Special Day Class, ages 14-22, however, it can easily be used for k-2 grades. I've included the standards, or "Functional Performance Indicators" from the SEACO binder. I have students come up to the board and circle the correct number; we count outloud; they connect written numbers to number icons. Experience

I actually used to work as a circus clown before I began my teaching career. I taught my first five years in a migrant community. I also worked as an adjunct professor for the University of California. For the past 10 years, I've worked as a Special Day Class Case Manager.

Teaching style

Whatever it takes to help the students. I lean towards universal access and backward design that starts with the needs of the students first. I'm a fan of Harry Wong's saying that if you want a student to play poker, they need to have some poker chips to be in the game to begin with.
