About the store
I recently retired after 33 years as a library media specialist in a K-6 elementary school. In order to promote a lifelong love of literature, I created school-wide enrichment programs with a focus on books and literacy. I ran several clubs including a drama club, but most of my plays were collaborative efforts with classroom teachers in grades 1-6. Frustrated by the quality of plays available, I decided to write my own. For many years, my playwriting focused on the winter holidays, but some of my favorite performances were centered in history and science topics.

Experience

I recently retired after 33 years as a library media specialist in a K-6 elementary school. In order to promote a lifelong love of literature, I created school-wide enrichment programs with a focus on books and literacy. Teaching style

From poetry recitation contests and storytelling to musicals and dramatic presentations, it has always been my goal to get children actively engaged in the lesson. Students retain more when they are active learners. Model what you want them to learn and let the students build, create and surpass your expectations.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Additional biographical information

As a library media specialist, research and technology were an important component to my teaching. However, I truly believe that my mission was to nurture readers, give them opportunities to explore literature and to provide an outlet for creative expression. That's where the plays fit in. My love of American history, my passion for wildlife, the environment and homeless pets are also evident in many of my original plays.
