Ever need an easy self directed independent digital assignment? I created this STEM careers slide for students to fill out when I am out with a substitute. Students can either fill out the entire slide show or just one, by picking one. The boxes to fill out are the background of the slide so they can't be edited. Students just create a textbox to answer the questions.
This lab sheet is used for a review of experimental design. Students can work in groups of no more than 4. Things needed: -A petri dish, or very small, shallow lipped bowl/plate. -1 mealworm, or superworm per group. -water, sugar water, salt water, vinegar. **Do NOT soak the paper towels as to drown the larvae, the paper towel should just be damp with the media.
Students get to see how animal structures, specifically bird beaks, have evolved and how natural selection can play a role in the variety of birds that there are. Supplies Needed: -4 different types of tools, one for each student in your group. Examples of what I have used would be pliers, forceps, tongs, needle nose pliers. -Different types of seeds: Examples could include - bird seed, beans, walnuts, sugar (to represent grass seed), corn, rice.
This lab is designed for each student to have their own penny and dropper. You need a cup of plain water and a cup of soapy water. I let the soapy water settle over night so they don't see the bubbles so as to not show a difference. After the lab and worksheet is complete my students will do an all class whiteboard discussion. This is to see what conclusion the students come to as to why there is a difference between the soapy and plain water.

This is meant to be a foldable that student put into an interactive notebook. It is folded so the pictures are on the inside, the outside is meant for the name of the tool. Inside students look up and write in the function.
This lab is in the form of a PowerPoint for a specific reason. It is meant to be put up on the screen and have the kids do a lab by following directions without the teachers help at all. I also do not tell the students that it will make a rainbow. The discovery of it while they are creating it makes the student very happy while they follow directions.
This is a letter that you can change dates, times, descriptions, everything else that is needed. I currently use this letter for my STEM class, I left some descriptions as is.
Students need to review measuring by actually measuring objects around them. This worksheet is meant for you to edit for specific objects that are around your student or child.
In a measurement unit or need to review it? This document consists of 4 exit slips, meant to be cut up in 1/4 sheets. Questions are having students measure the length of a line, conversion, and calculating area.
